A day where youth gain access to quality education, regardless of economic circumstance.
We nurture confident leaders to change their community through social entrepreneurship.
As of 2015, 124 million youths in Southeast Asia don’t go to school. This is not because they do not know the benefits education brings about. It’s because they are trying to survive. Out in rural areas, every pair of hands matter. One child studying means one less bowl of rice on the dinner table. It means hunger. It means death.
Bamboo Builders envisions a day where every youth is able to gain access to quality education, regardless of their economic circumstance. To achieve this, we pilot curriculums that equip and empower young adults in rural communities to build sustainable businesses and achieve financial freedom. By coming to school to build businesses, youth gain entrepreneurial mindsets and soft-skills while earning a small wage.
Bamboo Builders has also identified that a critical first step to empowerment was to fix the paralysing “I cannot” and “I don’t know” mindsets. We developed a program that forms a core part of our curriculum and has been proven to drive personal transformation where shy, self-limiting youths become empowered community leaders.
To date, we have trained more than 80 young adults from 7 ASEAN countries. Some have created businesses that have in turn impacted more than 900 people.
This is just the beginning.
