Bamboo Builders Joins Scam Ready ASEAN in Singapore

Helping Singaporeans learn, play and protect one another

We're pleased to share that Bamboo Builders has been appointed Local Implementing Partner for Scam Ready ASEAN in Singapore.

Scam Ready ASEAN is a regional programme led by the ASEAN Foundation with support from Google.org. It aims to equip 3 million people across ASEAN with practical skills to spot and respond to online scams, including newer threats powered by AI. In Singapore, that work is now in our hands.

What is Scam Ready ASEAN?

The programme runs from 2025 to 2027, backed by USD 5 million in support from Google.org. Across the region, it will:

• Work with 20 local organisations across all 11 ASEAN Member States

• Mobilise 2,000 Master Trainers to reach more than 550,000 learners

• Offer expert-developed training modules tailored to each country

• Build an open-access resource hub for anyone to use

• Bring people together through national and regional convenings on tackling online scams across sectors

The goal is a culture of vigilance and mutual care, where communities look out for each other.

Scam awareness training in Singapore: what we'll deliver

Here is our part of the programme:

• Training 40 Master Trainers. We'll recruit them from among youth, educators, parents and caregivers, with at least 55% women.

• Reaching 8,000 learners. Master Trainers will run 4-hour in-depth sessions in schools, community hubs and senior groups.

• Supporting seniors. Five ASEAN Digital GrandPals will work with older residents, helping them build confidence with digital tools through peer-to-peer support.

• Hands-on learning, not just talks

Scam awareness sticks when people practise it. In our sessions, participants will:

• Check suspicious links

• Verify messages before responding

• Spot warning signs, such as a job offer that asks for a "processing fee"

They'll also play the Be Scam Ready game, a fun way to build habits like pausing before paying.

Building on SG ScamWISE

This isn't our first step into scam awareness. bamboobuilders.org/sgscamwise, our Google.org-backed campaign, reached 100,000 Singaporeans and more than 150 educational, community and institutional organisations. Scam Ready ASEAN lets us take that experience further, with trained community voices carrying the message into more schools, neighbourhoods and homes.
